The Legacy of Joseph Gifford (2014, 56 min)
LEGACY FILMS BY
"Remembering Ralph" (2018)
The film that resulted from the expertise, taste and imagination of Jill Uchiyama of Legacy Films is beyond my expectations. When the original plan to film my course on film-editing became moot, she came up with the idea--and the title: Remembering Ralph--for a more personal film honoring Ralph Rosenblum, my late husband, an eminent New York film editor. As director, she was able to elicit personal anecdotes and comments, as well as the non-technical descriptions of the films he edited, coming up with illustrations of his work that exactly helped explain a little-known aspect of film making, making a far warmer portrait of Ralph than I had originally planned. Her film-making sensibility, her intelligence and her personal warmth made the experience of making the film as well as the ultimate film itself, a great joy. She welcomed my suggestions and came up with her own ideas for capturing Ralph's and, to some extent, my story in an enchanting short film. I could not be happier with both its making and the result of her efforts.
